DO YOU PROTECT YOUR HEARING? IF YOU NEED TO SHOUT OR USE A RAISED VOICE
TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE AT AN ARM'S LENGTH, THE NOISE IN THE AREA IS POSSIBLY
DANGEROUS. REMEMBER NOISE DOES NOT NEED TO BE UNPLEASANT TO CAUSE
DAMAGE, THERE ARE MANY MUSICIANS WHO SUFFER FROM DISABLING HEARING
LOSS.

A Idol question Dear Uncle Terry, Me and my mates voted fullon for Rocky on Australian Idol but he got voted off any way. We think we were riped off, but they never showed the actual count of the vote. Why dont they give the number of people who voted? Franny Dear Franny, A very good question! Another good questions is: Who audits the voting? Most TV award shows that depend on voting display prominently the name of some independent auditing firm who guarantees that the vote is not rigged, this seems to be conspicuously absent on Australian Idol. This might be something that should be taken into account by anyone considering betting on the result. (yes you can wager money on it; check it out. Here's some more good questions: How much do the telcos make from all those phone calls and SMS's? How much of this gets kicked back to the producers of the show? And our perennial favourite, how much are the contestants getting paid? (we can guess the last one!!) Uncle Terry Burning down the tuba Dear Uncle Terry, I was perusing The Dues site trying to find information on companies that may deal with Instrument Insurance. I'm not happy with the one I've got as they want to charge a Fire Service Levy that costs more than our House & Contents Insurance!! (Then add Stamp Duty and GST and Brokers Fees!) By the time they've finished I'm paying $1950 to insure the instruments and $1300 more in extra crap fees. I tried to explain that the only way the fire brigade will need to come to the rescue of my burning Tuba is if my house is on fire and therefore I would have paid the Fire Service Levy as part of my House Insurance so why should I pay it twice but they didn't understand! Got any suggestions? Vivienne Dear Vivienne, Uncle Terry is not in a position where he could recommend any specific insurance companies but here are two that he is aware specialize in music instrument insurance. Uncle Terry understands that both also offer a discount to Musicians Union members. here are their toll-free numbers: Marsh Insurance - 1800 882 317 I suggest you call both and compare their quotes with your current insurer
and any others you can find.
